Get Ready

Before you go

Documents & entry

  • Carry a valid passport — many countries require at least 6 months' validity beyond your travel dates.
  • Check whether your destination requires a visa, ETIAS (Europe) or eTA before you arrive.
  • For domestic flights, make sure your ID is REAL ID compliant.
  • Keep printed and digital copies of your passport, tickets and reservations.

Protect your trip

  • Ask us about travel insurance to cover cancellations, medical care and lost luggage.
  • Enroll in the U.S. State Department's free STEP program for travel alerts abroad.
  • Review current CDC and State Department advisories for your destination.
  • Notify your bank and card issuers of your travel dates to avoid holds.
On Your Way

Packing & money

Smart packing

  • Pack light — you'll thank yourself on every transfer and staircase.
  • Keep essentials, a change of clothes and valuables in your carry-on.
  • Bring the right plug adapters and voltage converters for your destination.
  • Always carry medications in your carry-on, in their original packaging.

Money & connectivity

  • Carry some local currency plus a no-foreign-fee card for everyday spending.
  • Arrange an international phone plan or eSIM before you depart.
  • Download offline maps and translation apps for spotty-signal areas.
  • Learn local tipping customs so you're never caught off guard.

Frequently asked questions

Why use a travel advisor instead of booking online?

We bring decades of firsthand knowledge, trusted supplier relationships and a real person who advocates for you. We save you time, help you avoid costly mistakes, and are here if anything changes — before, during and after your trip.

Do you charge fees?

Most of our planning is built into the trips we book, so our expertise comes at little or no extra cost to you. If a service fee ever applies, we'll always tell you up front — no surprises.

How far ahead should I book?

It depends on the trip. Cruises, peak-season travel and group departures are best booked several months to a year out for the best choice and value, while some getaways can come together quickly. When in doubt, reach out early — we'll guide the timing.

Can you handle groups and honeymoons?

Absolutely. Group travel, honeymoons, anniversaries and destination celebrations are some of our favorite trips to plan. We'll coordinate the details so everyone — including you — can simply enjoy the experience.

What if something goes wrong during my trip?

You're never on your own. As your advisor, we're your point of contact if a flight is delayed, plans shift or you have a question on the road. One call to (619) 445-9193 connects you to someone who knows your itinerary.

How do I get started?

Just reach out. Call us, email info@holttravel.com, or stop by our office at 2241 W. Victoria Drive, Alpine, CA 91901. Tell us where you'd love to go and we'll take it from there.
